Dissatisfied with the banality of terrestial radio and algorithm driven internet music programs, the quartet that would become known as the core of the Porch FM crew (Mic#1, Dr. Weirdstuff, HitGirl and D-Wreck) set out to capture the eclectic mixes that were coming, literally, from the porch of producer Mic#1 and HitGirl's home. With the aid of online music providers like iTunes, Spotify and YouTube, streaming platform Mixcloud and their own expansive personal music collections, the crew began to shape what would soon become Porch FM...
Digging deeper into underappreciated sub-genres, showcasing new releases by lesser-known acts, and seeking hidden gems within the canon of more familiar artists, the mixes began to take on a more eclectic and cohesive arrangement. A singular mantra was coming into focus: "Thou Shall Play No Shite!". Time to meet the crew.
The shows designer, engineer, and producer. Mic #1 also oversees the show's online accounts with MixCloud and social media platforms. Regularly promoting awareness and interest for the show using Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. A keen researcher, he's always looking to add more context to his contributions.
You might find the good doctor with a fist full of research papers. Not opposed to technology, he prefers inking out his selections after digging deep into various music genres and eras. An officianado of the offbeat and unusual, he's also known to play a catchy pop tune sending the porch vibe into a new direction.
Don't let the shyness on the mic fool you, HitGirl is the crew's resident troublemaker. Analytical and organized, her research and extensive cataloguing of songs and artists has broadened her musical scope and tastes, and deepened her contributions. She'll bring the darkness to the mix and loves nothing more than hard to pronounce band names and song titles.
The crew's free spirit,
D-Wreck brings his laid
back demeanor to the mic with flow. Due to real world obligations, his appearances are intermittent, but his contributions are always powerful. His tastes often reside on the periphery of popular music, and he can always be counted on to drop some mind-bending 10-minute epic tune that nobody's heard before.
